Pledges to bring new perspective to District B, Clark County School District
LAS VEGAS, Nev.—On Tuesday Katie Williams, a mother, Nevadan, and Army combat veteran, filed as a candidate for District B of the Clark County School District’s Board of Trustees. Her grassroots candidacy will focus on bringing a new perspective to District B, which encompasses a large portion of Northeastern Clark County, extending from Northern Las Vegas east, encompassing Nellis Air Force Base, and including the communities of Bunkerville, Logandale, Mesquite, Moapa, and Overton.
Katie released the following statement regarding her candidacy:
“When we came to Nevada, my family and I fell in love. Nevada is a diverse state with unlimited potential—a frontier for industry with a rich history of pioneering freedom. Nevada’s 2019 K-12 Achievement score is 69.1—a D. My daughter will be starting her own journey through Clark County’s Public Schools in just two years. I had to ask myself what I would like to see the school system look like for her. Now, I’m here to take action.
We have a lot of work to do to improve education for the 45,000 plus students of District B. My pledge to those students, their families, and the voters of Clark County is that I will spend the next 8 months proving to you that no one will work harder to improve the future of our children’s education. I look forward to meeting and discussing your own visions for the schools of District B and finding ways to work together to make those dreams a reality.”
